This is my life! The goodtimes, the badtimes, and the times I'm not sure what to do but I know we'll get thru it together.

Cabin Fever

Well, this winter has been a challenge for our family.  How about yours?  I find myself singing along with kids' tv theme songs because we've had to watch soooo many these past few days.  It makes me regret not taking the kids out on the days I thought were "too cold."  You know those days that were in the 50s and 40s this fall.  Kind of ridiculous now that we are warming up to 5 degrees F.   No matter how many board games, WII games or even Fisher Price basketball games you play, there really is no substitute for the outdoors.
As my kids dream of slides, bike rides, and running through the hay fields; I find myself starting to plan my garden, starting to think of landscaping ideas, and planning our newest endeavor, chickens!!!

Yes I said chickens!  I'm so excited I could burst!  Who would have thought, me with chickens???  I'm sure next January when it's once again -15 degrees outside and I'm the only one going outside to feed and clean up after the chickens I won't be as happy with the whole situation.  However, at this point, I am counting down the months.  It seems to be a new 'fad' to have a few chickens in your backyard for eggs and such.  I know in the nearby city of La Crosse it has been a hot topic.  Even the local news has been caught up in the action as the city counsel decides if it will be acceptable to own chickens in the city limits.

So, coming this spring as the bulbs begin to show their little heads and the snow beings to recede, we will be blessed with the peeping of little chicks and eventually little eggs to cook more of those awesome noodles!  More to come as we get closer to the day they arrive I'm sure!

In his name,
Lisa
